(R&D)3 – Dissemination

Promoting a culture of safety, resilience, and sustainability in the construction industry

The (R&D;)3-Dissemination line differs from the others in its objectives and output. Rather than being a division that develops products and provides services directly to individual companies or designers, the (R&D;)3 division aims to make research findings on innovative and sustainable solutions for the structural and integrated restoration of existing buildings accessible to engineers, technicians, and the general public.

The main activities offered by this line include sharing:

  • Content on the topics of structural rehabilitation of existing buildings, including their structural design, static and seismic vulnerabilities, criteria for structural improvement based on these vulnerabilities, and available techniques; numerical modeling; and preliminary design of interventions
  • Examples of calculations for structural retrofits that can be fully traced
  • Protocols and software for the diagnosis and preliminary planning of interventions
  • Construction Readiness Protocols and Diagnostic Tests
  • Presentation and Critical Analysis of Sustainable Redevelopment Projects—From Concept to Implementation

Although the content presented is based on the results of research conducted over the years at the University of Bergamo or on work carried out by Erreditre, it will also include findings from other research centers around the world, so as not to limit the discussion to a single point of view and to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the issue.

In addition to the highly specialized content described above, we plan to develop a dedicated section for the general public, with the aim of disseminating the principles related to the sustainable rehabilitation of buildings and providing a resource to help raise awareness of topics typical of civil engineering (for example, awareness of seismic risk or risks associated with environmental instability). – under development
